Corning’s new Gorilla Glass 6 – This will make your phone survive for several drops

Corning just introduced the release of Gorilla Glass 6, emphasising that it’s greater durable than previous fashions.

The employer says that the glass will survive up to fifteen drops from a one meter peak and can be “up to two instances higher” than Gorilla Glass 5.

“Corning Gorilla Glass 6 improves upon Gorilla Glass five through surviving drops from better heights, but, more importantly, has been engineered to survive more than one drops,” said Corning Gorilla Glass vice president and preferred manager John Bayne in a statement.

As phones get slimmer and feature ever sleeker glass shows,  due to the fact thinner glass is weaker glass, even if it’s come to be stronger.

Sometimes, in smartphones of preceding years, the bezel could crack first, then main to a weakness within the glass.

There’s also a tradeoff between drop resistance and scratch resistance, which Corning has admitted to inside the beyond.

Corning says that Gorilla Glass 6 will have the identical amount of scratch resistance as preceding generations.

So despite the fact that the company claims the new era of Gorilla Glass is “higher,” you shouldn’t expect new telephones made with the glass to be more scratch-resistant.

Gorilla Glass 6 is in manufacturing now and to be had to cellphone makers. It’s anticipated to reach the marketplace in the next preceeding months.
